Rocky Mountain Pinball Showdown April 26-28th. Pins and fun for the whole family
I’ve put this site together as an up-to-date reference for all places to play pinball commercially in Denver, surrounding suburbs, and towns.
If you are interested in serious play and playing with some of the best in Colorado (tournaments, leagues (LCP only), and well-maintained machines), check out the listings below for

Another location is Arcade Amusements in Manitou Springs from 1908 which has a large selection particular of older games (50′s-80′s) and a few recent titles.
There are other websites where you can get this information but this is also to list the places that have one or two machines that might not be known otherwise. Also the quality of the machines is described if gameplay is less than desired. Please refer to the establishments’ websites when applicable for the latest information. Please help me keep this information up to date. If the pin is working less than desired, please report to the establishment’s owner. I have found most are accommodating. Also this is the BEST retro arcade (I counted over 20 games) with the selection of video games and in a large playing area so it’s not hot at all. Ok for kids under 16 before 7pm. Open at 11am (F-Sun) otherwise open at 3pm on other days. Summer hours during baseball season (open at 11am every day) But they don’t like hearing country music on their jukebox. Occasionally vendor switches out ROMs which wipes grand champ scores on machines.)

Lord of the Rings (hardware above O rollover causes balls to get stuck there, gandalf diverter always open so can miss opthmalic skill shot, balrog hits not register, The second and subsequent ring shots (after completing the other four lit shots) never complete “Destroy the Ring” (been this way for over two years) – does the switch on the spinner to ring need to be adjusted to activate magnet in ring – it a shame since this is the only LOTR of Gunther Toody’s three that have a spinner, the right flipper takes a little getting used to as a slightly weak/retracted, but all features work. Nice to see other players finally competing with the score – maybe you can convince the vendor to fix the spinner/magnet for the ring)

During about an hour play last year, here are things I noticed – ball can get stuck on top of plastics to right of right captive ball – this can happen if crane deposits a ball (or the second ball of two shot into the crane)-I think this just may be a design flaw not this machine particularly.)

Star Wars Episode I (always leary of a place where all games are shut off and a big sign that says play games at your own risk, no refunds! This is for good reason but it is a shame as it looks like an arcade warehouse with all the old games like Pengo. R2 rollover not register so no skill shot or extra ball, lots of lights out on playfield (e.g. JEDI), red light on monitor is out, backlight is out else seems to play fair)

Dr Who (10/11: top flipper sometimes does not retract and could probably be serviced as not the best to make ramp, closed switch somewhere on time expander as hits register automatically without being near it, also some buttons do not register time expander hits, tilt is too liberal for fair competition, no horizontal tilt as ball got stuck near light on W ramp and had to lift front legs to unlodge (machine did not tilt), terrible glare on machine from skylight during the day else plays and looks fine. Only one in CO)

www.lyonsclassicpinball.com Monthly tournament 3rd Th of every month. WPPR points. Over 35 well-maintained machines from the 60′s through today. See website for game list. Pinball league (10-week) on non-tournament THs. Probably the best place to play in CO if you want the largest number of best kept machines including many of the classics. However because of this, they attract the best players in CO. Great place to go play by yourself or with friends. The only downsides are that they are only open in the late afternoon to evening TH-Sun but can open on other days for bday parties. They have a game room with 3-4 pins plus other vintage video games at Oskar Blues which opens at 11am daily around the corner. The high scores on all their machines are reset every August but are primarily dominated by two high ranked WPPR players. Unless you are really good, have a lot of money, and time, I wish anyone well there trying to obtain a high score on a machine; otherwise, it’s almost a lost cause. Even if you get a high score early in the season, one of the pinheads there will see it as a challenge and not have your score last a couple weeks. I speak that from experience as I consider myself a good pinball player but many people that play there either work or have worked in the field, have games in their home, play regularly there, etc. Competition at tournament is fierce and some of the comments from some of the folks that play there can almost be unwelcoming if you are not part of the “cliche” (but if you are pinhead, you know what I mean).
